How do I upload my tracks? – For full information on how to upload you tracks please see our ‘Label Owners Instructions’ page – Click Here. 
 
Do I have to have a label to upload titles to? – Yes, you need to come up with a label name that is not already used so that we can assign your track to it.

Is a label image needed? – Yes all labels need to have an image. Labels that do not have a label image will not be made live to the public. You are responsible for all artwork uploaded to the website.

Do I have to own a company? – No, but if you choose to use your name or label name you need to clearly state who payments are to be made to.

Do I have to be VAT registered? - No, but if you’re not registered do not put a VAT number in the appropriate field when registering. If you are vat registered, please fill in the appropriate field so that we can pay you value added tax.

What is MCPS? –  The MCPS-PRS Alliance - MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society) and PRS (Performing Right Society) are the not-for-profit UK collecting societies that ensure composers, songwriters and publishers are paid royalties when their music is used: from live performance to TV and radio, CDs to DVDs, downloads, streams and everything in between. MCPS and PRS entered into an operational alliance in 1997.  www.mcps-prs-alliance.co.uk

Can I be responsible for MCPS payments myself? - Yes, As we are just providing a medium for you to sell your music you can be responsible for your own mcps. You need to select the appropriate option when registering. If you are taking responsibility for your own mcps, we will pay you the 8% royalties.

Can IMOdownload be responsible for MCPS? – Yes, IMOdownload has a full MCPS licence. We will take 8% Royalties which will we pay direct to mcps. You will then need to sign up for a mcps licence or have a publisher who will claim these royalties back for you.

Tracks uploaded but not showing on site? – There could be several reasons for this, please check that you have uploaded all the relevant sections. If all the relevant sections have been filled in correctly, then please change the status of the track to live.

What quality and duration do the clips have to be? – All tracks must be no more than 64kbs and a maximum of three minutes in length. Maximum file size for track clips are 1MB.

What type of music files can I upload to IMOdownload? - IMOdownload currently only hosts mp3 music files.

What quality does the downloadable content have to be? – The mp3 music files can be one of two types. 192 and 320kbs. Please make sure that your files are encoded at the correct quality. Incorrect files will be taken down.

Can I take my tracks / labels down at any point? - Yes, selecting the not live option on the edit page will hide the tracks from the site.

What price can I sell my track for? – You are in complete control with IMOdownload and you can set any price you wish.

Can I edit my track price? – Yes, as you are in complete control, you can change the price of your tracks at any point. If a track is not selling, then it may be a idea to lower the price.

Who is responsible for the material posted on the site? - The Label Owner is entirely responsible for all material they upload and agree to our terms and conditions when registering.

What if I post inappropriate material? - The content will be flagged, removed and your account will be terminated immediately.

Can I contact those customers who have nominated me as a favourite artist / label? -Yes, through a mass e-mail system when you upload the releases.

Am I getting extra monies for self-uploading my tracks? – Yes, any material that is uploaded by yourself you now get 100% of the profits with IMO Download only taking its costs and expenses.

How do IMO make money? – IMO will take 25% for it’s costs and expenses to maintain this operation. IMO will make all its profits from advertising banners placed around the web site.

What monies will I receive from my tracks? – You will take 75% of the download price of the track. If you upload a 320 track and set the price at £2.00 per download, then you will receive £1.50 for each download.

Can I generate my own invoices? – Yes, As soon as you have a minimum of £30 in your account, you can generate a invoice to us which will be paid automatically via paypal, bank transfer or cq. Once a invoice has been generated, invoices will be paid via your chosen method within 30 days.

How will I receive my payment? – Once a invoice has been generated, invoices will be paid via your chosen method on 30 days end of month terms.

Will IMOdownload promote my music? – IMO Is listed very highly within most search engines and also lists keyword names to google adwords and yahoo. It will be primarily up to the label to advertise the tracks on your page as well as word of mouth. We will also send out emails to our customer database which is in excess of 23,000 people and growing by the day.

Can I send out emails to IMOdownload customers? – When you upload a new track to the site, you can hit generate email, and it will send out emails to every customer that has signed up and requested to be contacted when a new release becomes available.

By agreeing to sell my music on your site, am I relinquishing ownership rights? – No, all tracks will remain the sole property of the artist. We are not a record company, we simply provide a medium for your tracks to be sold on the internet by the individual artists and labels.
